Appellate Districts - Numbered Court of Appeals LINKS TO PAGES ON EACH OF THE 14 INTERMEDIATE COURTS OF APPEALS
The Texas Courts of Appeals are known both by their consecutive number and by the city in which they are located. Houston has two courts of appeals, which hear cases from the same set of counties. Therefore the label "Houston Court of Appeals" could refer to either the First or the Fourteenth Court, and the number should be added if clarity is required. The members of each court are elected from the entire appellate district. The electorate in appellate court races is thus must larger than the electorate of the city or county in which the court sits.
